Color Picker from Image

Designers lift colors from photos constantly — matching a site's accent to a product shot, pulling a brand palette from a logo, checking what that background actually is. Click any point of your image here and you get the exact HEX, RGB, and HSL values with one-click copy, plus the six dominant colors of the whole image as a ready palette.

How to use Color Picker from Image

  1. Choose or drop an image; it appears on the picking canvas.
  2. Click or tap any point to read that pixel's color.
  3. Copy the HEX, RGB, or HSL value with its copy button.
  4. Click any palette swatch to load and copy one of the image's dominant colors.

Supported behavior

  • Values describe the pixel as your browser renders the image, after any color-profile conversion.
  • The palette is computed by sampling and grouping similar colors, then averaging each group.
  • Copy buttons use your browser's clipboard and confirm on the status line.

Best for

  • Matching website colors to a product or brand photo.
  • Building a palette from a mood-board image.
  • Checking exact background or text colors in a screenshot.

Limits

  • JPEG artifacts mean a 'flat' area can hold many near-identical colors; the picked value is the real pixel, warts and all.
  • Animated or multi-frame images are read as their first frame.
  • The palette summarizes dominant colors — rare accent colors in small areas may not make the top six.

Privacy notes

  • Selected files stay on your device during processing; nothing is uploaded to a server.
  • Object URLs are revoked when previews or results are replaced.

Color Picker from Image FAQ

Why does the color differ slightly from my design app?

Browsers convert images to the display color space when rendering, and this tool honestly reports the rendered pixel. A color-managed design app may report the file's stored profile values instead.

How is the palette calculated?

The image is sampled, pixels are grouped into color buckets, and the six largest groups are averaged and shown. On a solid-color image you will simply see that color.

Can I copy a color without clicking the image first?

Yes — every palette swatch is clickable and loads its value into the same readout with the same copy buttons.
