Favicon Generator
A modern site needs more than one icon file: browsers want favicon.ico and PNGs, iPhones want a 180-pixel apple-touch-icon, Android wants 192 and 512. This generator builds the whole package from one image — a real ICO container with embedded PNG entries, every PNG size, and a text file with the exact HTML link tags to paste into your site.
Generate a package to view its contents.

How to use Favicon Generator
- Choose or drop a square-ish image; a logo or bold initial works best.
- Check the status line — non-square images are center-cropped, and you are told when that happens.
- Generate the package and download the ZIP.
- Unzip into your site root and paste the snippet from the included text file into your HTML head.
Supported behavior
- The favicon.ico is a genuine ICO container holding 16, 32, and 48 pixel PNG entries — not a renamed PNG.
- The ZIP also includes 180 (Apple), 192, and 512 (Android) PNG icons plus the standalone small PNGs.
- A favicon-snippet.txt file in the ZIP carries the ready-to-paste link tags.
Best for
- Launching a website, blog, or landing page.
- Replacing a default CMS favicon with your own brand mark.
- Web students learning what a complete icon set looks like.
Limits
- Fine detail disappears at 16 pixels — simple, high-contrast artwork survives; busy photos do not.
- Non-square images are center-cropped to a square before resizing, which can cut off edge content.
- The generator makes the files; your site still needs the link tags (included) and, for Android, a web app manifest if you want install prompts.
Privacy notes
- Selected files stay on your device during processing; nothing is uploaded to a server.
- Object URLs are revoked when previews or results are replaced.

Favicon Generator FAQ
What size image should I upload?
Bigger is better: 512 × 512 or larger gives the downscaler clean source material. A square image avoids the center-crop entirely.
Is the favicon.ico a real ICO file?
Yes — a proper ICO container with three embedded PNG images (16, 32, and 48 px), the same structure browsers and Windows expect.
Where do I put the files after downloading?
Extract the ZIP into your website's root folder and add the link tags from favicon-snippet.txt to your pages' head section. The snippet uses root-relative paths like /favicon.ico.
