Edit PDF Metadata
Edit PDF Metadata opens the document properties most people never see: the title your reader shows on its tab, the author and subject fields search engines read for downloadable PDFs, and the keywords inside the file. Open a PDF and the tool reads its current values first — many exported files carry an embarrassing or empty title — then lets you fix the four editable fields and saves a clean copy.

How to use Edit PDF Metadata
- Choose or drop the PDF — its current properties load into the form below.
- Review the read-only facts: page count, file size, creator and producer.
- Edit the title, author, subject and keywords fields.
- Click Save metadata and download the updated copy.
Supported behavior
- Current metadata is read from your file and shown before you change anything — no guessing.
- Page count and file size are displayed alongside, so you can verify you opened the right document.
- Only the four document-property fields change; page content is untouched.
Best for
- Fixing the tab title of reports before publishing them as downloads.
- Adding author and subject information to exported documents.
- Cleaning up properties before sending files to clients or archives.
Limits
- Creator and producer describe the software that made the file and cannot be edited here — they are shown for information only.
- Changing metadata does not change anything visible on the pages themselves, including a printed title page.
- Some readers cache properties; reopen the file if a viewer still shows old values.
Privacy notes
- Processing happens entirely in your browser, so nothing in your document is sent anywhere.
- Properties are read and written inside your browser. The document's contents are never transmitted for such a small job.

Edit PDF Metadata FAQ
Why does the title matter if the file has a name?
Readers and browsers display the metadata title on tabs and in history, and search engines use it for indexed PDFs. A file named report-final-v2.pdf can still show the polished title you set here.
My PDF shows an empty title. Is that normal?
Very. Many exporters leave the field blank or stuff it with a document ID. Type the title you want and save — the copy will carry it.
What are creator and producer?
Creator is the app that originally made the document (for example a word processor); producer is the library that wrote the PDF itself. They are historical facts about the file, so this tool shows but does not edit them.
Does saving metadata rewrite the whole PDF?
The tool writes a fresh copy of the file with updated properties. The content streams are carried over as they are, and your original stays unchanged on your device.
