Add Page Numbers to PDF
Add Page Numbers stamps a page number on every page of a finished document — the finishing touch reports, theses and contracts need before they go out. Choose the format ('Page 3 of 12' or a plain '3 / 12'), the position along the bottom edge, the text size, and — for documents that continue another file — the number to start from. The numbers are drawn onto a copy; your original stays untouched.

How to use Add Page Numbers to PDF
- Choose or drop the PDF.
- Pick the number format and its position: bottom center, left or right.
- Set the starting number and text size if the defaults do not fit.
- Click Add page numbers and download the stamped copy.
Supported behavior
- Two formats: 'Page X of Y' spells it out; 'X / Y' keeps it compact. Y always matches the final page's number.
- The start-at number lets a document continue another file's numbering — start at 21 and Y adjusts too.
- Text size from 6 to 24 points covers footnotes to bold footer numbers.
Best for
- Reports and proposals that will be printed or bound.
- Thesis chapters and appendices submitted as separate files.
- Contracts and statements where every page must be accounted for.
Limits
- Numbers are stamped over the page content at the very bottom — if a page already has a footer there, the number may sit on top of it.
- This version numbers every page including the first; there is no 'skip the cover page' option yet.
- Numbers already printed in the document are not detected or removed.
Privacy notes
- Your PDF is processed locally in your browser and is never uploaded to a server.
- The stamping happens in your browser. A contract being numbered never leaves your device.

Add Page Numbers to PDF FAQ
Can I skip numbering the first page, like a cover?
Not in this version — every page is numbered. A workaround: extract the cover, number the rest starting from 2, then merge the cover back in front.
What does the start-at number do to 'Page X of Y'?
Both numbers shift. Starting at 21 in a 5-page document gives 'Page 21 of 25' through 'Page 25 of 25', so the total still reads correctly.
Which font is used?
Helvetica, the standard PDF font every reader renders identically, in a neutral dark gray.
Can I remove the numbers later?
They are drawn into the copy this tool makes, so keep your original file if you might need an unnumbered version.
