Find and Replace

Find and Replace does bulk text surgery: give it a word or phrase, give it the replacement, and every occurrence in your text is swapped at once — with a live count of how many replacements were made. Case-sensitive and whole-word modes protect you from the classic accidents, like renaming 'cat' inside 'catalog'. It is the notepad feature the web kept forgetting to give you.

Options

How to use Find and Replace

  1. Paste your text into the box.
  2. Type the text to find and the text to replace it with.
  3. Optionally require exact case or whole words only.
  4. Read the replacement count under the result, then copy the updated text.

Supported behavior

  • The replacement count is shown after every run, so you always know how many spots changed.
  • Find text is treated literally, never as a regular expression — dots and brackets mean themselves.
  • An empty Replace field deletes every occurrence of the Find text.

Best for

  • Renaming a product, person or place throughout a document.
  • Standardizing terminology across a long draft.
  • Deleting a repeated marker or placeholder from exported text.

Limits

  • There is no undo history beyond your browser's — keep a copy of the original if the replacement is risky.
  • Whole-word matching uses word boundaries, so it works best around words made of letters, digits and underscores.

Privacy notes

  • Everything runs on your device: the text you type never leaves your browser.
  • Both your document and your search terms stay on your device.

Find and Replace FAQ

Does Find support regular expressions?

No, deliberately. The Find field is literal text, so searching for 'a.b' finds exactly 'a.b'. That makes the tool safe for non-programmers and predictable for everyone.

How do I delete something everywhere?

Put it in Find and leave Replace empty. The count under the result tells you how many occurrences were removed.

What does whole-word matching prevent?

It stops replacements inside larger words: replacing 'cat' with whole-word on changes 'cat' but leaves 'catalog' and 'delicate' untouched.
