Remove Extra Spaces fixes the invisible mess that copying leaves behind: double spaces after full stops, tabs where spaces belong, trailing spaces on every line, and gaps of empty lines. It is the standard first aid for text pasted out of PDFs, Word documents and emails. Choose exactly how aggressive the cleanup is — collapse runs of spaces and tabs, trim each line, and optionally drop blank lines entirely.

How to use Remove Extra Spaces

  1. Paste your messy text into the box.
  2. Tick the cleanups you want: collapse spaces, trim lines, remove blank lines.
  3. Copy the cleaned result or download it as a .txt file.

Supported behavior

  • Collapsing turns any run of spaces or tabs inside a line into a single space.
  • Trimming removes spaces from the start and end of each line.
  • Blank-line removal is off by default, so paragraph spacing stays yours to control.

Limits

  • Indentation at the start of lines (code, poetry, outlines) is removed when trimming is on — turn trimming off to preserve it.

Will it remove the spaces between words?

No. It collapses runs of two or more spaces (or tabs) down to one space. Single, correct spaces are never touched.

Can it remove blank lines too?

Yes — tick 'Remove blank lines' and every empty line disappears, leaving one continuous block of text lines.

Why does text from PDFs have so many extra spaces?
